A couple of quick things about me: I am from Tampa, Florida and am the third generation Ghioto to be involved in the owning of a Buick, GMC and Kia car dealership in the Tampa Bay area. I have grown up around the car business and have seen what peoples needs are on an everyday basis. This is why I have come up with my idea to provide a mobile car service company that will come to you to fix minor issues. Instead of making an appointment and waiting at a body shop, my employees will come to you at a scheduled time and make minor repairs such as battery replacements, light replacements and even gas fill ups for a small fee. I hope to spread this idea by word of mouth at first and then different outlets with social media to help reach as many college students as possible. I believe what sets me apart is the experience I have in the car business and how I can use that to present a better service to my customers.
As far as feedback goes, most of the original comments were pretty positive so I tried to keep the majority of my idea the same. I agree that I need to fine tune some things, but this is just the general idea that I am presenting to the public. Some of the best feedback I received came from the last comment on my first idea napkin, the comment asked how I was going to promote my idea. This question got me thinking and I came to the conclusion that social media would be not only the most effective, but it would be free to me. Because of this feedback, I included my marketing plan in this idea napkin. I also need to keep in mind from the feedback that convenience is the main service I am bringing to my customers and I need to make sure my work is quick and efficient.
ralph !!
ReplyDeleteIs nice to know about you and how much do you like cars. on the other side i think that the feedback i can give about your idea is that you are entering on the most busy business in the United States ( the auto repair) remember that entering in such a business cost a know how curve in order to only be placed as an important competitor in the market. and most of the times is hard to recover that money.

Hi Ralph,
ReplyDeleteI think I remember commenting about your business idea on a previous blogpost. As I have said that time, the name of the game nowadays in convenience, and it seems that you got that on your favor for your niche. I was hoping you were able to go into much detail this go-around. The six-point outline from the assignment instructions helped me to achieve this. I would like to know who would be your target customers, what would make you different from services like AAA, and what can you bring to the table to make your business flourish. I like your idea very much though! You can visit my post here: http://juansesoto.blogspot.com/2016/03/1-you-i-am-juan-sebastian-soto-avella.html
I'm sold on this already, I have a pair of windshield wipers my husband got me back in October and he still hasn't put them on my car. Where do I sign up? That being said, can I ask, will this be open to everyone or will it just be for people who have purchased a vehicle from one of your lots? Additionally will this be included in the purchase price of a vehicle I buy from you, would it be a "subscription" type service or a pay as you order? OR could it be all three? Just some things to think over...

Hey Ralph,
ReplyDeleteI like your idea which is similar to Triple A, but not so much in emergencies. I think this is a very good idea for some of the small things like changing oil or your air filter. On the other hand, I am not sure about the pricing and how much you could charge for the home service especially if they live far away. Also, I don't think this would do very well in a college town because most students will opt for the cheaper option.
Here is what I wrote mine about:
