Idea Napkin No. 1

A couple of quick things about me: I am from Tampa, Florida and am the third generation Ghioto to be involved in the owning of a Buick, GMC and Kia car dealership in the Tampa Bay area. I have grown up around the car business and have seen what peoples needs are on an everyday basis. This is why I have come up with my idea to provide a mobile car service company that will come to you to fix minor issues. Instead of making an appointment and waiting at a body shop, my employees will come to you at a scheduled time and make minor repairs such as battery replacements, light replacements and even gas fill ups for a small fee. I am offering this service (mainly) to college students in the area who simply to not have enough time to handle these fix its on their own! I believe this idea is very convenient and will be used by heavily by college students who don't always have a lot of time on their hands. The services will be available to all people in the Gainesville area as well.

I believe my business idea is a good start, but that it needs some fine tuning. I need to figure out exactly what services would be provided and for how much of a fee. For a start though, I think it is something that most college students would benefit from!

  1. Hey Ralph,

I think this is an awesome idea! It goes along very nicely with the independent contractor trend in startups now a day. Personally, I don’t know too much about cars but I would love to sit down and learn more about your business plan. I’m a graduating senior in finance with a bit of background in entrepreneurship myself. If you want to get together to talk email me back: ryan.sharpe@icloud.com

  2. Ralph,
I think that this is a really great idea. As someone who never knows what to do when my car isn't working, this would be a great service. Sometimes, it is incredibly hard to bring one's car into a shop if someone is pressed for time. The convenience that this service would present would really make it useful for people. They would also probably be willing to pay more for that added level of convenience. Good luck on your future endeavors!
If you get a chance, I would love feedback on my post! http://mbvandepol.blogspot.com/2016/02/idea-napkin-no-1.html

  3. Hey Ralph,

I think you have a great start to your idea, but I agree that it's still in the process of fine-tuning. I agree that college students don't have a lot of time to spend waiting at a car dealership. Just the other week, my friend was complaining for three days straight that she needed to get her oil changed but didn't know how to and didn't have the time to drive her car to the shop. Although this service is extremely convenient, I think the fee should be very reasonable, since your target population is college students. I look forward to seeing your progression!

  4. Hi Ralph!
Love your idea! Personally being someone with CONSTANT car troubles, I would certainly appreciate a company like this! I think this company would very likely blow up in popularity when it is announced. Especially in a college town, I doubt that many student know how to fix their own cars or have the resources or time to take their cars to a shop. You have a wonderful idea here. My only question is how would you plan on promoting this? Overall great job and good luck!
